Sunday School
We have a great parish Sunday School that teaches the Bible to children, walks them through the Christian Faith, prepares them for weekly catechism with the Pastor, and for youth group after confirmation.
Parochial Schools
Our parish is involved in two local parochial schools, St. Paul's in Truman, and Martin Luther High School, Northrop, where our families have children enrolled, we assist those families, and our pastor teaches there.
Pro-Life
Our parish gladly supports First Choice Pregnancy Center in New Ulm to help mothers with pregnancies.
Food Shelf
We gather groceries each week for the Madelia Food Shelf, as well as hold an annual drive to help our neighbors with their daily bread.
What We Believe
We believe the historic confession of Christians the world over that the One God is Triune and that He has revealed Himself to us in the Holy Scriptures which He has caused to be written for our salvation. The Christian Faith is beautifully summarized by Doctor Martin Luther in his Small Catechism

Salem is a fellowship of Christians in the rural southern Minnesota who gather every Sunday to worship our Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord of the Church gathers us around the preaching of His Holy Scriptures, the Bible, which is the inspired Word of God, and gives us life and salvation through the gifts of Baptism and the Holy Communion. We have an active parish Sunday School, weekly Bible study, support the local food shelf, actively involved in the local Lutheran schools, monthly ladies group, monthly dinners, and always welcome guests and visitors to join us.
Q: I've never been to church before. How does this work? Do I make a reservation? Do I just show up?
A: You can just show up! There is no need to make a reservation or to call beforehand. We have space for you, and we often have people just show up.
However, you might feel more comfortable if you talked with us before arriving.
Even if you don’t talk with us before coming, you are welcome here.
Q: Where do I sit?
A: You are welcome to sit anywhere you wish. Seating is not reserved.
Q: Are children welcome?
A: Yes! We invite and encourage all children to attend worship with their families. We also have a nursery available and Sunday School after the service.
Q: What about communion?
A: Visitors and guests are kindly asked to please speak with the pastor before taking communion at Salem.
Q: Do you have wheelchair accessible seating and bathrooms?
A: Yes we do!
